Earworm of the day: weird metal

I’ve been in a bit of a weird mood this week, so have some weird music, starting with some Finnish folk metal:

A cello-metal collaboration with Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann, covering a classic David Bowie track in German (it makes sense. It just does):

And a Scots pirate metal shanty:

Earworm of the day

Sometimes you’re just in the mood for some subverted-fairytale symphonic-goth-metal awesomeness. Well, I am anyway.

Earworm of the day

One of my non-resolutions for 2015 is to absorb more woman-centric media. Part of this project involves discovering the amazing women singers of metal, and I have had A Sound of Thunder’s Calat Alhambra stuck in my head for at least a week now.

There really needs to be more metal songs about badass women in history.

(First go embedding a Spotify link … fingers crossed!)
